2024 ANNUAL REPORT

Innovation and collaboration for a more sustainable future

Our success in national and international competitive bidding processes, as well as our partnerships with public administrations and private companies, reflect our ability to lead technology transfer in our fields of activity

In 2024 IHCantabria has reaffirmed its leadership in the knowledge economy and its role as a driver of innovation in the sectors it addresses. Its approach combines excellence in applied research with technology transfer, promoting solutions that generate a positive and tangible impact on society and industry.

With the execution of 96 technology transfer projects, IHCantabria has demonstrated its international vocation and its capacity to address global challenges, especially in 11 countries of the American continent. This year marked a milestone with a 5.4% increase in the attraction of resources, reaching 4.6 million euros in transfer projects, consolidating its competitiveness and capacity to generate value through innovation.

Strategic collaborations with 31 administrations and 87 companies have been key to applying the knowledge developed in sustainable and effective projects. These alliances have strengthened its position as an indispensable partner in the creation of a more sustainable future.

IHCantabria has also advanced in critical areas such as renewable energy, highlighting its contribution to the development of offshore wind farms through innovative and environmentally friendly techniques. In addition, it has continued to support ports, coastal managers and policy makers in assessing and improving resilience to climate change, a global challenge that requires specific and adaptive solutions, as well as the active participation of citizens. This participation has been exceptional, for example, in the implementation of the CoastSnap citizen science initiative in Santander, as the two monitoring stations installed by IHCantabria in the Piquío Gardens registered the highest citizen participation (first and second position) among 200 stations located worldwide.
